A Lourdes Regional graduate Tara excelled at basketball and softball during her playing days. Her coaching resume includes stints with the CYO Basketball League and four years as Junior High Girls Basketball Coach at her alma mater. Tara is in her third year with the Black Diamond Sports Network and can be heard on Lourdes Girls Basketball and Softball broadcasts.

As 3-year starter in basketball at Bloomsburg University she was a 1000-point scorer (1064 pts.) and Captain her Junior and Senior years. She appeared in 2 Division II NCAA Tournaments being selected First Team All-Conference her Junior and Senior years with the Women Huskies. Rated among the greatest female athletes at North Schuylkill High School, she excelled in Basketball and Track. A member of the 1000 Point Club (1240 pts.) she earned 4 varsity monograms, led teams to 3 Schuylkill League Championships and 2 District XI Crowns. She was also Schuylkill County Female Scholar Athlete in 1990. In Track at the time of her graduation she held school records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meters events. She earned Gold Medals in 400 meters in SCIAL and District XI Championships. She has served as Head Coach of the girls basketball teams at North Schuylkill and Tri-Valley High Schools. Her overall record is 90 wins and 30 losses, which tabulates into a 75% winning percentage. Her squads have captured 4 SCIAL Division Crowns, 2 overall League Championships and a District Gold Medal at Tri-Valley. She is the only female coach in SCIAL history to have played on and coached a District Title team. Careen can be heard on both boys and girls basketball broadcasts.

A long time contributor to the education and athletic activities in the Shamokin – Coal Township area, Mike begins his second year with the Black Diamond Sports Network.  He is a graduate of Shamokin Area High School and the former Public Address Announcer for his alma mater’s Jr. / Sr. High School football games.  Mike is well known for his work as a member of the Shamokin Area School District Board of Education.  He has been a mentor for area youth through his involvement with the Shamokin Youth Basketball League and the Anthracite Miners Junior Baseball League.  Mike has served as Vice-President of the Anthracite Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association and is involved in other community organizations.  Mike and his wife Corrine reside in Coal Township.

Dave is a 2009 graduate of Southern Columbia. He was a 2-year starter for the Tiger’s football team at the cornerback and wide receiver positions and was part of the 2006 record-breaking 5th straight State Championship team. As a senior, Dave was selected to the Heartland Conference All-Star team and received the Black Diamond Sports Network’s “Diamond in the Rough” Award. Dave was also a 3-year starter and captain of the basketball team and selected to the District 4 All-Star team. He is currently attending Bloomsburg University and pursuing a degree in Math Education. After 3 years of coaching the SCA Boys Basketball team he is now a Varsity Asst. with the SCA Girls Basketball team. Dave hopes to bring his passion, enthusiasm and knowledge for sports to the booth this year as he fulfills one of his dreams by making his Black Diamond Sports Network debut.  He looks forward to joining Phil and Jeff to broadcast the 6 time State Champion Tigers of Southern Columbia.

Ron Grzybowski is a veteran of the high school and college football scenes, Grzybowski begins his 2nd year as a member of the Black Diamond Sports Network.  A standout athlete at Our Lady of Lourdes High School, he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels and enjoyed a brief stint with the Dallas Cowboys.  His high school head coaching stops include Lourdes Regional, Cardinal Brennan and Bloomsburg high schools.  He also served as an assistant at Bloomsburg and Bucknell Universities.  Ron and his wife Mary Ann reside in Coal Township, PA.

Beginning his second year with the Network Corey brings a diversified background to the broadcast booth. A standout athlete at Line Mountain High School he excelled in football and basketball during his schoolboy days. He has served as Head Football Coach at Lourdes Regional and was a long time Assistant at Shamokin Area. He was a key member of the 2003 District IV Championship coaching staff. Corey can be heard on Shamokin Area broadcasts. He and his wife Maureen Marie reside in Coal Township.

Phil Manney is a Coal Region football legend. He was the last Shamokin player to suit up and play in the Big 33 Game. Phil is a graduate of Brown University and the National College of Chiropractic and is currently in his 24th year of practice at the same location on Market Street in Shamokin. This proud member of the Bernie Romanoski Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame has been broadcasting Coal Region football for over 20 years. Prior to 2004 when he and Greg Maresca co-founded the Black Diamond Sports Network (BDSN), Phil called play-by-play on WISL, WSPI and BILL 95. Phil is the owner / sole proprietor of BDSN and for the 8th consecutive season will primarily call the play-by-play for the 6 time Class “A” State Champion Southern Columbia Tigers. Phil will also co-host "In The Huddle with Phil & Tom" on Saturday mornings with long time friend and mentor Tom Ryan. Phil and his wife Lois reside in Ralpho Township with his daughters Catarina and Monica.

Greg Maresca co-founded BDSN with Dr. Phil Manney in the spring of 2004. Prior to BDSN, he worked in radio broadcasting producing news/sports programming. Maresca will work with Ron Grzybowski broadcasting the Shamokin Indian games.

Mark Micalizzi is a graduate of Danville High School and Penn State University. The U.S. Navy veteran earned his Bachelors Degree in Radio & T.V. Communications and is currently in his 7th year with the Black Diamond Sports Network. Mark can be heard on gamecasts, a halftime reporter from various sites and serves as a special correspondent reporting on football related events.

A Schuylkill County coaching icon he enters his 4th year with the Network. Bob has been affiliated with the Spartans sports program for 35 years. He has served as Head Football Coach (8 years), Head Basketball Coach (2 years), Track & Field Assistant 27 years and Assistant Girls Basketball Coach (6 years). His 1986 football squad won the District’s first District XI Football Title, and was on the staff as the Spartans have since earned 2 more Gold Medals. His basketball role saw the Lady Spartans capture 4 SCIAL crowns, 2 District XI Titles and make 2 trips to the State Final. His long tenure in Track & Field has yielded numerous District XI Champions and the program has produced several state medal winners. Bob can be heard on both boys and girls basketball broadcasts. He and his wife Jan reside in Frackville.

When one esposes football, few are a bigger disciple than Jeff. After his playing days at Danville Area High School wrapped up, Jeff became a devoted fan of the collegiate game. In fact, Jeff and his broadcast partner, Mark Micalizzi, make an annual pilgrimage to a different college venue each fall. Moreover, Jeff has meticulously followed the numerous high school programs in the region for the last quarter century and volunteered his talents coaching midget football with the Tee-Railers in his hometown. However it will be this season that he will realize a longstanding ambition as he dons the headset to take on the play-by-play of the Southern Area Tigers on the Black Diamond Sports Network.

Tom Ryan is long recognized as the voice of Coal Region sports, the veteran broadcaster begins his sixth decade of airing high school athletics. He has been affiliated with WETV, KMCTV, WISL Radio, the Pottsville Broadcasting Company and is currently in his 5th year with the Black Diamond Sports Network. Tom will air football, basketball and softball during the 2011 - 2012 seasons. Throughout his career Ryan has called PIAA football, basketball and baseball, ASA softball, Eastern Professional Basketball and has hosted numerous sports talk shows. A retired teacher - Coach, he and his wife Paula Margaret reside in Ashland, PA.
